Auction result misses estimated price range
In May 2016 a collector was able to acquire the work 1875 (The Green Dress) by William McGregor Paxton for USD 490,000.00 (€ 440,053.88). This price was achieved in the auction American Art at Sothebys in New York and was even below the estimate range of USD 500,000.00 – 700,000.00 set by the auction house. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by William McGregor Paxton - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work The Letter, which sold at auction in April 2002 for USD 834,500.00 (€ 927,016.22).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Im Mai 2016 konnte ein Sammler die Arbeit 1875 (The Green Dress) von William McGregor Paxton für USD 490.000,00 (€ 440.053,88) erwerben. Dieser Preis wurde in der Auktion American Art bei Sothebys in New York erzielt und lag noch unterhalb der von dem Auktionshaus angesetzten Schätzpreisspanne von USD 500.000,00 – 700.000,00. Für andere Arbeiten von William McGregor Paxton mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit The Letter beobachtet, die im April 2002 für USD 834.500,00 (€ 927.016,22) versteigert wurde.
