Auction result misses estimated price range
In December 2010 a collector was able to acquire the work View of the coast near Naples, with figures in rowing boats in the foreground by William Marlow for GBP 12,500.00 (€ 14,499.96). This price was achieved in the auction The Barratt Collection - from Crowe Hall, Bath at Christies in London and was even below the estimate range of GBP 15,000.00 – 25,000.00 set by the auction house. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by William Marlow achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work A View From Richmond, Looking Towards Twickenham in January 2007 with an auction result of USD 384,000.00 (€ 295,430.07).

Dieser Preis wurde in der Auktion The Barratt Collection - from Crowe Hall, Bath bei Christies in London erzielt und lag noch unterhalb der von dem Auktionshaus angesetzten Schätzpreisspanne von GBP 15.000,00 – 25.000,00. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von William Marlow erzielen.
