Upper estimated price slightly exceeded
The work Small craft running out of Portsmouth Harbour with the tide, Fort Blockhouse beyond by William Joy was auctioned at Christies in London in November 2010. It achieved a price of GBP 1,750.00 (€ 2,091.25), exceeding the upper end of the estimate range by 17%. Admittedly, works by William Joy have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work A Dutch galliot and other vessels in calm conditions on a British shoreline in October 2021 with an auction result of GBP 8,925.00 (€ 10,573.71).
Oberer Schätzpreis leicht übertroffen
Die Arbeit Small craft running out of Portsmouth Harbour with the tide, Fort Blockhouse beyond von William Joy kam im November 2010 bei Christies in London zur Auktion. Sie erzielte dabei einen Preis von GBP 1.750,00 (€ 2.091,25) und übertraf damit das obere Ende der Schätzpreisspanne um 17%. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von William Joy auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit A Dutch galliot and other vessels in calm conditions on a British shoreline im Oktober 2021 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 8.925,00 (€ 10.573,71).
