Auction result misses estimated price range
This work of art by William Joy could be acquired at Bonhams in London in October 2021 for an unexpectedly low price. In the The Marine Sale auction, the work A fishing craft and merchantmen at sea changed hands for GBP 892.50 (€ 1,057.37) - missing the lower end of the estimate range of GBP 1,000.00 – 1,500.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by William Joy achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work A Dutch galliot and other vessels in calm conditions on a British shoreline in October 2021 with an auction result of GBP 8,925.00 (€ 10,573.71).
