In October 2021 Bonhams in London held the auction The Marine Sale, which included the work The debarkation of King Louis Philippe at Portsmouth, October 1844 by William Joy. The »bidding war« ended at GBP 6,120.00 (€ 7,250.55), 22% above the upper estimate. Other works by William Joy have achieved even higher prices, we observed the highest auction result so far of GBP 8,925.00 (€ 10,573.71) in October 2021 for the work A Dutch galliot and other vessels in calm conditions on a British shoreline.
