Auction result misses estimated price range
This work of art by William J. McCloskey could be acquired at Sothebys in New York in December 2011 for an unexpectedly low price. In the American Paintings, Drawings & Sculpture auction, the work Still Life With Wrapped Tangerines changed hands for USD 134,500.00 (€ 103,676.87) - missing the lower end of the estimate range of USD 150,000.00 – 250,000.00. Admittedly, works by William J. McCloskey have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Wrapped Oranges On A Tabletop in May 2011 with an auction result of USD 782,500.00 (€ 544,309.96).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Dieses Kunstwerk von William J. McCloskey konnte im Dezember 2011 bei Sothebys in New York für einen unerwartet niedrigen Preis ersteigert werden. In der Auktion American Paintings, Drawings & Sculpture wechselte die Arbeit Still Life With Wrapped Tangerines für USD 134.500,00 (€ 103.676,87) den Besitzer – und verfehlte damit das untere Ende der Schätzpreisspanne von USD 150.000,00 – 250.000,00. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von William J. McCloskey auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Wrapped Oranges On A Tabletop im Mai 2011 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 782.500,00 (€ 544.309,96).
