Upper estimated price slightly exceeded
The work Apples in a Basket by William J. McCloskey was sold in the American Art auction at Christies in New York in May 2014. Here, the upper estimate of USD 120,000.00 was slightly exceeded - the artwork found a new owner for USD 137,000.00 (€ 100,439.88). Admittedly, works by William J. McCloskey have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Wrapped Oranges On A Tabletop in May 2011 with an auction result of USD 782,500.00 (€ 544,309.96).
Oberer Schätzpreis leicht übertroffen
Die Arbeit Apples in a Basket von William J. McCloskey wurde im Mai 2014 in der Auktion American Art bei Christies in New York versteigert. Dabei wurde der obere Schätzpreis von USD 120.000,00 leicht übertroffen – das Kunstwerk fand für USD 137.000,00 (€ 100.439,88) einen neuen Besitzer. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von William J. McCloskey auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Wrapped Oranges On A Tabletop im Mai 2011 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 782.500,00 (€ 544.309,96).
