Auction result well in line with expectations
In May 2000 Christies in London held the auction SPORTING ART, which included the work Still life with pheasants, English partridges, woodcock, a tankard, a wheel-lock sporting rifle and a powder-flask by William Hughes. The price achieved of GBP 4,935.00 (€ 7,918.86) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 4,000.00 – 6,000.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by William Hughes - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Flowers, Fruit, A Bullfinch And Its Nest, which sold at auction in November 2006 for GBP 20,400.00 (€ 30,294.64).
