Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Female chaffinch with nest; and Female chaffinch singing by her nest by William Hughes was sold in the Victorian, Pre-Raphaelite & British Impressionist Art auction at Christies in London in June 2014. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of GBP 2,000.00 – 3,000.00, the actual price achieved of GBP 2,250.00 (€ 2,811.27) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by William Hughes achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Flowers, Fruit, A Bullfinch And Its Nest in November 2006 with an auction result of GBP 20,400.00 (€ 30,294.64).

Die Arbeit Female chaffinch with nest; and Female chaffinch singing by her nest von William Hughes wurde im Juni 2014 in der Auktion Victorian, Pre-Raphaelite & British Impressionist Art bei Christies in London versteigert. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von GBP 2.000,00 – 3.000,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von GBP 2.250,00 (€ 2.811,27) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen.
