Auction result misses estimated price range
In May last year a collector was able to acquire the work A basket of grapes and plums by a mossy bank by William Hughes for GBP 252.00 (€ 296.45). This price was achieved in the auction STYLE London: Furniture, Clocks, Silver, Ceramics & Works of Art at Sothebys in London and was even below the estimate range of GBP 300.00 – 400.00 set by the auction house. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by William Hughes achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Flowers, Fruit, A Bullfinch And Its Nest in November 2006 with an auction result of GBP 20,400.00 (€ 30,294.64).
