In March 2015 Christies in New York held the auction 20/21 Photographs/ Leaves of Light and Shadow: Photographs Gathered by William T. Hillman, which included the work The Half Moon, 1864 by William Henry Fox Talbot. The »bidding war« ended at USD 20,000.00 (€ 18,620.24), 33% above the upper estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by William Henry Fox Talbot achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work William Henry Fox Talbot’S Gifts To His Sister: Horatia Gaisford’S Collection Of Photographs And Ephemera in April 2021 with an auction result of USD 1,956,000.00 (€ 1,625,935.16).

Im März 2015 führte Christies in New York die Auktion 20/21 Photographs/ Leaves of Light and Shadow: Photographs Gathered by William T. Hillman durch, in der auch die Arbeit The Half Moon, 1864 von William Henry Fox Talbot zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von USD 20.000,00 (€ 18.620,24) und damit 33% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von William Henry Fox Talbot erzielen.
