Auction result well in line with expectations
In April 2017 Phillips in New York held the auction The Odyssey of Collecting: Photographs from Joy of Giving Something Foundation, Part 1, which included the work Oxford High Street by William Henry Fox Talbot. The price achieved of USD 56,250.00 (€ 51,629.19) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as USD 50,000.00 – 70,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by William Henry Fox Talbot achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work William Henry Fox Talbot’S Gifts To His Sister: Horatia Gaisford’S Collection Of Photographs And Ephemera in April 2021 with an auction result of USD 1,956,000.00 (€ 1,625,935.16).

Im April 2017 führte Phillips in New York die Auktion The Odyssey of Collecting: Photographs from Joy of Giving Something Foundation, Part 1 durch, in der auch die Arbeit Oxford High Street von William Henry Fox Talbot zur Versteigerung kam. Der dabei erzielte Preis von USD 56.250,00 (€ 51.629,19) lag im Rahmen der Erwartungen – die Schätzpreisspanne war von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit USD 50.000,00 – 70.000,00 angegeben worden.
