In November 2009 Phillips in London held the auction Music, which included the work Frank Sinatra by William Gottlieb. The »bidding war« ended at GBP 1,375.00 (€ 1,504.76), 53% above the upper estimate. Despite this good result, it is not the highest hammer price for an artwork by William Gottlieb; that achieved among the auctions we observed the lot "Billie Holiday", 1940's sold at auction in October 2020 with the realized price of SEK 22,000.00 (€ 2,121.23).
Oberer Schätzpreis um 53 % übertroffen
Im November 2009 führte Phillips in London die Auktion Music durch, in der auch die Arbeit Frank Sinatra von William Gottlieb zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von GBP 1.375,00 (€ 1.504,76) und damit 53% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Trotz des guten Ergebnisses ist dies nicht der höchste Zuschlag für ein Kunstwerk von William Gottlieb; den erzielte unter den von uns beobachteten Auktionen die Arbeit "Billie Holiday", 1940's im Oktober 2020 mit dem Hammerpreis von SEK 22.000,00 (€ 2.121,23).
