In September 2003 Christies in Amsterdam held the auction Pictures, Watercolours and Drawings, which included the work Playing Hunt for the slipper in class by William Gill. The »bidding war« ended at EUR 1,553.50 73% above the upper estimate. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by William Gill - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work The Punch and Judy show, which sold at auction in December 2006 for GBP 3,000.00 (€ 4,452.38).

Im September 2003 führte Christies in Amsterdam die Auktion Pictures, Watercolours and Drawings durch, in der auch die Arbeit Playing Hunt for the slipper in class von William Gill zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von EUR 1.553,50 und damit 73% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Für andere Arbeiten von William Gill mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit The Punch and Judy show beobachtet, die im Dezember 2006 für GBP 3.000,00 (€ 4.452,38) versteigert wurde.
