Auction result well in line with expectations
In April 2011 Sothebys in New York held the auction Photographs, which included the work 'Geyser, Yellowstone National Park, Wyoming' by William Garnett. It changed hands for a price of USD 8,750.00 (€ 5,903.79) achieving a result in the upper range of the estimate price range of USD 6,000.00 – 9,000.00. Admittedly, works by William Garnett have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Plowed Field, Arvin, Calif. (Vertical Aerial 500 Ft.) in June 2010 with an auction result of USD 50,000.00 (€ 40,680.17).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Im April 2011 führte Sothebys in New York die Auktion Photographs durch, in der auch die Arbeit 'Geyser, Yellowstone National Park, Wyoming' von William Garnett zur Versteigerung kam. Dabei wechselte sie für einen Preis von USD 8.750,00 (€ 5.903,79) den Besitzer und erzielte damit ein Ergebnis im oberen Bereich der Schätzpreisspanne von USD 6.000,00 – 9.000,00. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von William Garnett auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Plowed Field, Arvin, Calif. (Vertical Aerial 500 Ft.) im Juni 2010 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 50.000,00 (€ 40.680,17).
