Upper estimate price exceeded by more than 100%
This artwork by William Garnett achieved an unexpectedly high price at Sothebys in New York in April 2014. In the Photographs auction, the work Appalachian Mountains, Pennsylvania sold for USD 15,000.00 (€ 10,814.71) - well above the upper estimate of USD 7,000.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by William Garnett - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Plowed Field, Arvin, Calif. (Vertical Aerial 500 Ft.), which sold at auction in June 2010 for USD 50,000.00 (€ 40,680.17).

In der Auktion Photographs wurde die Arbeit Appalachian Mountains, Pennsylvania für USD 15.000,00 (€ 10.814,71) versteigert – und damit weit über dem oberen Schätzpreis von USD 7.000,00. Für andere Arbeiten von William Garnett mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Plowed Field, Arvin, Calif.
