Auction result misses estimated price range
This work of art by William Edward Mayes could be acquired at Christies in London in March 2003 for an unexpectedly low price. In the British Art on Paper including the Collection and Studio of auction, the work South Walsham Dyke, River Bure, Norfolk changed hands for GBP 176.25 (€ 255.32) - missing the lower end of the estimate range of GBP 200.00 – 300.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by William Edward Mayes - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Hensted Mill, Norfolk, which sold at auction in March 2003 for GBP 587.50 (€ 851.07).
