Auction result misses estimated price range
In March 2003 a collector was able to acquire the work Belaugh Church, Norfolk by William Edward Mayes for GBP 176.25 (€ 255.32). This price was achieved in the auction British Art on Paper including the Collection and Studio of at Christies in London and was even below the estimate range of GBP 200.00 – 300.00 set by the auction house. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by William Edward Mayes - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Hensted Mill, Norfolk, which sold at auction in March 2003 for GBP 587.50 (€ 851.07).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Im März 2003 konnte ein Sammler die Arbeit Belaugh Church, Norfolk von William Edward Mayes für GBP 176,25 (€ 255,32) erwerben. Dieser Preis wurde in der Auktion British Art on Paper including the Collection and Studio of bei Christies in London erzielt und lag noch unterhalb der von dem Auktionshaus angesetzten Schätzpreisspanne von GBP 200,00 – 300,00. Für andere Arbeiten von William Edward Mayes mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Hensted Mill, Norfolk beobachtet, die im März 2003 für GBP 587,50 (€ 851,07) versteigert wurde.
