Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work At Brundall by William Edward Mayes was auctioned at Christies in London in March 2003, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of GBP 400.00 – 600.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for GBP 352.50 (€ 510.64). Other works by William Edward Mayes have also sold for higher prices; the highest price we have seen at auction so far was achieved in March 2003 by the work Hensted Mill, Norfolk at GBP 587.50 (€ 851.07).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als die Arbeit At Brundall von William Edward Mayes im März 2003 bei Christies in London versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von GBP 400,00 – 600,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für GBP 352,50 (€ 510,64) den Besitzer. Andere Arbeiten von William Edward Mayes wurden auch schon teurer gehandelt; den höchsten Preis, den wir bisher bei Auktionen beobachten konnten, erzielte im März 2003 die Arbeit Hensted Mill, Norfolk mit GBP 587,50 (€ 851,07).
