This artwork by William Dobell achieved an unexpectedly high price at Bonhams in Sydney / Melbourne in August 2021. In the Important Australian Art auction, the work The Scandal Mongers, 1931 sold for AUD 8,610.00 (€ 7,296.61) - well above the upper estimate of AUD 4,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by William Dobell achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Australian Opera House, Sydney Harbour in August 2007 with an auction result of AUD 816,000.00 (€ 487,948.98).
Oberer Schätzpreis um mehr als 100% übertroffen
Dieses Kunstwerk von William Dobell erzielte im August 2021 bei Bonhams in Sydney / Melbourne einen unerwartet hohen Preis. In der Auktion Important Australian Art wurde die Arbeit The Scandal Mongers, 1931 für AUD 8.610,00 (€ 7.296,61) versteigert – und damit weit über dem oberen Schätzpreis von AUD 4.000,00. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von William Dobell erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Australian Opera House, Sydney Harbour im August 2007 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von AUD 816.000,00 (€ 487.948,98).
