In May 2009 Sothebys in Melbourne held the auction Important Australian Art, which included the work Australian A Collection Of Seven Paintings by William Dobell. The »bidding war« ended at AUD 12,000.00 (€ 6,790.03), 50% above the upper estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by William Dobell achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Australian Opera House, Sydney Harbour in August 2007 with an auction result of AUD 816,000.00 (€ 487,948.98).
Oberer Schätzpreis um 50 % übertroffen
Im Mai 2009 führte Sothebys in Melbourne die Auktion Important Australian Art durch, in der auch die Arbeit Australian A Collection Of Seven Paintings von William Dobell zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von AUD 12.000,00 (€ 6.790,03) und damit 50% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von William Dobell erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Australian Opera House, Sydney Harbour im August 2007 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von AUD 816.000,00 (€ 487.948,98).
