This price was achieved in the auction PAINTINGS FROM THE JOSEPH BROWN COLLECTION at Christies in Melbourne and exceeded the previously set upper estimate of AUD 1,000.00 many times over. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by William Dobell achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Australian Opera House, Sydney Harbour in August 2007 with an auction result of AUD 816,000.00 (€ 487,948.98).
