The work Australian Lifesavers by William Dobell was auctioned at Sothebys in Melbourne in May 2009. It achieved a price of AUD 11,400.00 (€ 6,450.53), exceeding the upper end of the estimate range by 63%. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by William Dobell achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Australian Opera House, Sydney Harbour in August 2007 with an auction result of AUD 816,000.00 (€ 487,948.98).

Die Arbeit Australian Lifesavers von William Dobell kam im Mai 2009 bei Sothebys in Melbourne zur Auktion. Sie erzielte dabei einen Preis von AUD 11.400,00 (€ 6.450,53) und übertraf damit das obere Ende der Schätzpreisspanne um 63%. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von William Dobell erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Australian Opera House, Sydney Harbour im August 2007 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von AUD 816.000,00 (€ 487.948,98).
