Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work Australian Girl In Red (Mother Hubbard) by William Dobell was auctioned at Sothebys in Melbourne in May 2009, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of AUD 60,000.00 – 80,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for AUD 57,600.00 (€ 32,592.16). Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by William Dobell achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Australian Opera House, Sydney Harbour in August 2007 with an auction result of AUD 816,000.00 (€ 487,948.98).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als die Arbeit Australian Girl In Red (Mother Hubbard) von William Dobell im Mai 2009 bei Sothebys in Melbourne versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von AUD 60.000,00 – 80.000,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für AUD 57.600,00 (€ 32.592,16) den Besitzer. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von William Dobell erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Australian Opera House, Sydney Harbour im August 2007 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von AUD 816.000,00 (€ 487.948,98).
