Auction result well in line with expectations
The work The Melodeon Player by William Conor was auctioned at Sothebys in London in May 2009. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of GBP 35,000.00 – 50,000.00, the actual price achieved of GBP 37,250.00 (€ 42,613.62) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Admittedly, works by William Conor have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work The Dublin Horse Show in May 2007 with an auction result of GBP 192,000.00 (€ 282,540.99).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Die Arbeit The Melodeon Player von William Conor kam im Mai 2009 bei Sothebys in London zur Auktion. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von GBP 35.000,00 – 50.000,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von GBP 37.250,00 (€ 42.613,62) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von William Conor auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit The Dublin Horse Show im Mai 2007 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 192.000,00 (€ 282.540,99).
