Auction result misses estimated price range
In April 2003 a collector was able to acquire the work Sunset on Lago d'Iseo, Italy by William Collingwood Smith for GBP 470.00 (€ 612.38). This price was achieved in the auction At Home - British and Continental Pictures & Works on Paper at Christies in London and was even below the estimate range of GBP 500.00 – 700.00 set by the auction house. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by William Collingwood Smith achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Thanksgiving Day, St Paul's Cathedral, 27 February 1872 in November 2012 with an auction result of GBP 11,250.00 (€ 13,858.86).
