Auction result well in line with expectations
The work H.M.S. Dreadnought, the Seamen's Hospital ship, moored in the Thames off Greenwich by William Collingwood Smith was sold in the Maritime Art auction at Christies in London in May 2012. The price achieved of GBP 1,250.00 (€ 1,557.45) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 1,000.00 – 1,500.00. Admittedly, works by William Collingwood Smith have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Thanksgiving Day, St Paul's Cathedral, 27 February 1872 in November 2012 with an auction result of GBP 11,250.00 (€ 13,858.86).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Die Arbeit H.M.S. Dreadnought, the Seamen's Hospital ship, moored in the Thames off Greenwich von William Collingwood Smith wurde im Mai 2012 in der Auktion Maritime Art bei Christies in London versteigert. Der dabei erzielte Preis von GBP 1.250,00 (€ 1.557,45) lag im Rahmen der Erwartungen – die Schätzpreisspanne war von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit GBP 1.000,00 – 1.500,00 angegeben worden. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von William Collingwood Smith auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Thanksgiving Day, St Paul's Cathedral, 27 February 1872 im November 2012 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 11.250,00 (€ 13.858,86).
