Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Hayfields on the coast at Broadstairs, Kent by William Collingwood Smith was sold in the Christie's Interiors auction at Christies in London in August 2011. The price achieved of GBP 687.50 (€ 776.41) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 600.00 – 800.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by William Collingwood Smith achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Thanksgiving Day, St Paul's Cathedral, 27 February 1872 in November 2012 with an auction result of GBP 11,250.00 (€ 13,858.86).
