This work of art by William Collingwood Smith could be acquired at Christies in London in November 2003 for an unexpectedly low price. In the MARITIME AND NAVAL BATTLES auction, the work Shipping in a secluded harbour at dusk changed hands for GBP 528.75 (€ 759.03) - missing the lower end of the estimate range of GBP 600.00 – 800.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by William Collingwood Smith achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Thanksgiving Day, St Paul's Cathedral, 27 February 1872 in November 2012 with an auction result of GBP 11,250.00 (€ 13,858.86).
