Upper estimated price slightly exceeded
In May 2001 Christies in London held the auction BRITISH AND CONTINENTAL WATERCOLOURS AND DRAWINGS, which included the work Nôtre Dame, Paris by William Collingwood Smith. The »bidding war« ended at GBP 587.50 (€ 984.96), 18% above the upper estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by William Collingwood Smith achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Thanksgiving Day, St Paul's Cathedral, 27 February 1872 in November 2012 with an auction result of GBP 11,250.00 (€ 13,858.86).
Oberer Schätzpreis leicht übertroffen
Im Mai 2001 führte Christies in London die Auktion BRITISH AND CONTINENTAL WATERCOLOURS AND DRAWINGS durch, in der auch die Arbeit Nôtre Dame, Paris von William Collingwood Smith zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von GBP 587,50 (€ 984,96) und damit 18% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von William Collingwood Smith erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Thanksgiving Day, St Paul's Cathedral, 27 February 1872 im November 2012 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 11.250,00 (€ 13.858,86).
