The work A bouquet of roses, poppies, forget-me-nots, irises and carnations in an earthenwear vase with prunes and a bird's nest on a ledge by Willem van Leen was auctioned at Christies in Amsterdam in June 2017. Here, the upper estimate of EUR 18,000.00 was slightly exceeded - the artwork found a new owner for EUR 18,750.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Willem van Leen - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work A fine still life of flowers in a stone vase sculpted with amorini on a stone ledge including a peony, anemonies, old roses, auriculae, chrysanthemums, daisies, larkspur and acanthus leaves, two goldfinches in a bird's nest, which sold at auction in May 2004 for GBP 26,290.00 (€ 39,444.68).
