Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work Still Life Of Flowers In A Vase Resting On A Stone Ledge, A Landscape In The Background by Willem van Leen was auctioned at Sothebys in New York in June 2013, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of USD 10,000.00 – 15,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for USD 6,875.00 (€ 5,284.40). Admittedly, works by Willem van Leen have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work A fine still life of flowers in a stone vase sculpted with amorini on a stone ledge including a peony, anemonies, old roses, auriculae, chrysanthemums, daisies, larkspur and acanthus leaves, two goldfinches in a bird's nest in May 2004 with an auction result of GBP 26,290.00 (€ 39,444.68).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als die Arbeit Still Life Of Flowers In A Vase Resting On A Stone Ledge, A Landscape In The Background von Willem van Leen im Juni 2013 bei Sothebys in New York versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Willem van Leen auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit A fine still life of flowers in a stone vase sculpted with amorini on a stone ledge including a peony, anemonies, old roses, auriculae, chrysanthemums, daisies, larkspur and acanthus leaves, two goldfinches in a bird's nest im Mai 2004 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 26.290,00 (€ 39.444,68).
