Auction result well in line with expectations
The work The embrace by Willem van Konijnenburg was sold in the Nineteen to Now,Art from the 19th, 20th and 21st centuries including Indonesian Art and Topographical Observations auction at Christies in Amsterdam in September 2010. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of EUR 2,000.00 – 3,000.00, the actual price achieved of EUR 2,250.00 could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Admittedly, works by Willem van Konijnenburg have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Rituele dans: a ritual dance in June 2017 with an auction result of EUR 22,500.00.

Die Arbeit The embrace von Willem van Konijnenburg wurde im September 2010 in der Auktion Nineteen to Now,Art from the 19th, 20th and 21st centuries including Indonesian Art and Topographical Observations bei Christies in Amsterdam versteigert. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von EUR 2.000,00 – 3.000,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von EUR 2.250,00 konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Willem van Konijnenburg auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Rituele dans: a ritual dance im Juni 2017 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von EUR 22.500,00.
