Artwork auctioned at seven times the upper estimate price
The work A still life with roses (verso); a still life with violets (recto) by Willem van der Nat was worth NLG 9,361.60 (€ 4,115.02) to a buyer in July 2000. This price was achieved in the auction Pictures, Watercolours and Drawings at Christies in Amsterdam and exceeded the previously set upper estimate of NLG 1,200.00 many times over. Despite this good result, it is not the highest hammer price for an artwork by Willem van der Nat; that achieved among the auctions we observed the lot Kippenren: chicken-run sold at auction in July 2000 with the realized price of NLG 12,872.20 (€ 5,658.16).
