Auction result misses estimated price range
This work of art by Willem van de Velde II could be acquired at Sothebys in New York in January 2017 for an unexpectedly low price. In the Old Master Drawings auction, the work Small Ships On An Estuary, A Town Behind changed hands for USD 2,500.00 (€ 2,316.10) - missing the lower end of the estimate range of USD 3,000.00 – 5,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Willem van de Velde II achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Dutch men-o'-war and other shipping in a calm in December 2011 with an auction result of GBP 5,921,250.00 (€ 7,091,533.28).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Dieses Kunstwerk von Willem van de Velde II konnte im Januar 2017 bei Sothebys in New York für einen unerwartet niedrigen Preis ersteigert werden. In der Auktion Old Master Drawings wechselte die Arbeit Small Ships On An Estuary, A Town Behind für USD 2.500,00 (€ 2.316,10) den Besitzer – und verfehlte damit das untere Ende der Schätzpreisspanne von USD 3.000,00 – 5.000,00. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Willem van de Velde II erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Dutch men-o'-war and other shipping in a calm im Dezember 2011 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 5.921.250,00 (€ 7.091.533,28).
