Auction result well in line with expectations
The work A calm with a States Yacht firing a salute by Willem van de Velde II was sold in the Old Masters Evening Sale auction at Christies in London in December 2020. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of GBP 150,000.00 – 250,000.00, the actual price achieved of GBP 175,000.00 (€ 195,490.60) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Willem van de Velde II achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Dutch men-o'-war and other shipping in a calm in December 2011 with an auction result of GBP 5,921,250.00 (€ 7,091,533.28).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Die Arbeit A calm with a States Yacht firing a salute von Willem van de Velde II wurde im Dezember 2020 in der Auktion Old Masters Evening Sale bei Christies in London versteigert. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von GBP 150.000,00 – 250.000,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von GBP 175.000,00 (€ 195.490,60) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Willem van de Velde II erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Dutch men-o'-war and other shipping in a calm im Dezember 2011 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 5.921.250,00 (€ 7.091.533,28).
