In March 2018 Sothebys in Paris held the auction Dessins de la Collection Christian et Isabelle Adrien, which included the work Dutch Ships At Anchor by Willem van de Velde II. The »bidding war« ended at EUR 11,250.00 61% above the upper estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Willem van de Velde II achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Dutch men-o'-war and other shipping in a calm in December 2011 with an auction result of GBP 5,921,250.00 (€ 7,091,533.28).
Oberer Schätzpreis um 61 % übertroffen
Im März 2018 führte Sothebys in Paris die Auktion Dessins de la Collection Christian et Isabelle Adrien durch, in der auch die Arbeit Dutch Ships At Anchor von Willem van de Velde II zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von EUR 11.250,00 und damit 61% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Willem van de Velde II erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Dutch men-o'-war and other shipping in a calm im Dezember 2011 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 5.921.250,00 (€ 7.091.533,28).
