Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Warships and smaller boats at sea by Willem van de Velde II was sold in the Old Master & British Drawings auction at Christies in New York in January 2018. It changed hands for a price of USD 3,750.00 (€ 3,017.38) achieving a result in the upper range of the estimate price range of USD 3,000.00 – 4,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Willem van de Velde II achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Dutch men-o'-war and other shipping in a calm in December 2011 with an auction result of GBP 5,921,250.00 (€ 7,091,533.28).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Die Arbeit Warships and smaller boats at sea von Willem van de Velde II wurde im Januar 2018 in der Auktion Old Master & British Drawings bei Christies in New York versteigert. Dabei wechselte sie für einen Preis von USD 3.750,00 (€ 3.017,38) den Besitzer und erzielte damit ein Ergebnis im oberen Bereich der Schätzpreisspanne von USD 3.000,00 – 4.000,00. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Willem van de Velde II erzielen.
