Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Shipping on a calm sea by Willem van de Velde II was sold in the Old Master Drawings: Online auction at Christies in London in December 2019. The price achieved of GBP 4,375.00 (€ 5,170.74) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 3,000.00 – 5,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Willem van de Velde II achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Dutch men-o'-war and other shipping in a calm in December 2011 with an auction result of GBP 5,921,250.00 (€ 7,091,533.28).

Die Arbeit Shipping on a calm sea von Willem van de Velde II wurde im Dezember 2019 in der Auktion Old Master Drawings: Online bei Christies in London versteigert. Der dabei erzielte Preis von GBP 4.375,00 (€ 5.170,74) lag im Rahmen der Erwartungen – die Schätzpreisspanne war von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit GBP 3.000,00 – 5.000,00 angegeben worden.
