Auction result well in line with expectations
The work A winter landscape with an ox-cart on a wooded road near a village by Willem de Klerk was auctioned at Christies in Amsterdam in November 2000. The price achieved of NLG 8,191.40 (€ 3,837.54) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as NLG 7,000.00 – 10,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Willem de Klerk achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work A winterlandscape with peasants on a frozen waterway, with farmhouses and a windmill beyond in April 2001 with an auction result of NLG 99,875.00 (€ 45,840.76).
