In April 2014 Sothebys in New York held the auction American Paintings, Drawings & Sculpture, which included the work American Eagle by Wheeler Williams. The result of USD 5,000.00 (€ 3,604.90) was exactly at the lower end of the estimate range of USD 5,000.00 – 7,000.00. Admittedly, works by Wheeler Williams have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Winter and Summer: Two Sculptures in September 2008 with an auction result of USD 30,000.00 (€ 21,305.31).
Zuschlag beim unteren Schätzpreis
Im April 2014 führte Sothebys in New York die Auktion American Paintings, Drawings & Sculpture durch, in der auch die Arbeit American Eagle von Wheeler Williams zur Versteigerung kam. Das dabei erzielte Ergebnis von USD 5.000,00 (€ 3.604,90) entsprach exakt dem unteren Ende der Schätzpreisspanne von USD 5.000,00 – 7.000,00. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Wheeler Williams auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Winter and Summer: Two Sculptures im September 2008 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 30.000,00 (€ 21.305,31).
