Auction result well in line with expectations
In October 2016 Sothebys in New York held the auction Photographs, which included the work Sinn Department Store by Werner Mantz. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of USD 15,000.00 – 25,000.00, the actual price achieved of USD 16,250.00 (€ 14,823.94) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Werner Mantz - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Haus der Kölnischen Zeitung auf der Internationalen Presse-Ausstellung 'Pressa' bei Nacht, Köln., which sold at auction in July 2020 for EUR 47,500.00.
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Im Oktober 2016 führte Sothebys in New York die Auktion Photographs durch, in der auch die Arbeit Sinn Department Store von Werner Mantz zur Versteigerung kam. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 15.000,00 – 25.000,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von USD 16.250,00 (€ 14.823,94) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Für andere Arbeiten von Werner Mantz mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Haus der Kölnischen Zeitung auf der Internationalen Presse-Ausstellung 'Pressa' bei Nacht, Köln. beobachtet, die im Juli 2020 für EUR 47.500,00 versteigert wurde.
