This artwork by Wenceslaus Hollar achieved an unexpectedly high price at Bonhams in London in July this year. In the Old Master Paintings auction, the work View of Strasbourg from the north east sold for GBP 15,360.00 (€ 17,920.46) - well above the upper estimate of GBP 8,000.00. Admittedly, works by Wenceslaus Hollar have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Old St. Paul'S Cathedral, London, Seen From The East in July 2010 with an auction result of GBP 75,650.00 (€ 90,960.60).
Oberer Schätzpreis um 92 % übertroffen
Dieses Kunstwerk von Wenceslaus Hollar erzielte im Juli diesen Jahres bei Bonhams in London einen unerwartet hohen Preis. In der Auktion Old Master Paintings wurde die Arbeit View of Strasbourg from the north east für GBP 15.360,00 (€ 17.920,46) versteigert – und damit weit über dem oberen Schätzpreis von GBP 8.000,00. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Wenceslaus Hollar auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Old St. Paul'S Cathedral, London, Seen From The East im Juli 2010 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 75.650,00 (€ 90.960,60).
