Artwork auctioned at 11 times the upper estimate price
When the work Grasshopper and Flowers by Wen Shu was auctioned at Christies in Hong Kong in May 2013, the result exceeded expectations many times over. The upper estimate was set at a - in retrospect quite modest - HKD 20,000.00 but the actual price achieved was more than 11 times as high at HKD 225,000.00 (€ 22,312.90). Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Wen Shu achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Rising Early In Spring To Lament Flowers in September 2015 with an auction result of USD 413,000.00 (€ 370,005.38).
