Upper estimate price exceeded by more than 100%
This artwork by Wen Shu achieved an unexpectedly high price at Christies in Hong Kong in November 2010. In the Fine Chinese Classical Paintings and Calligraphy auction, the work Butterflies and Flowers sold for HKD 100,000.00 (€ 9,880.33) - well above the upper estimate of HKD 40,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Wen Shu achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Rising Early In Spring To Lament Flowers in September 2015 with an auction result of USD 413,000.00 (€ 370,005.38).
