Auction result misses estimated price range
When this work without title by Waseem Ahmed was auctioned at Sothebys in New York in March 2020, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of USD 4,000.00 – 6,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for USD 3,750.00 (€ 3,400.13). However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Waseem Ahmed - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Untitled (Man Lounging); Untitled (Woman Pointing), which sold at auction in March 2017 for USD 10,000.00 (€ 9,347.54).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als diese Arbeit ohne Titel von Waseem Ahmed im März 2020 bei Sothebys in New York versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 4.000,00 – 6.000,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für USD 3.750,00 (€ 3.400,13) den Besitzer. Für andere Arbeiten von Waseem Ahmed mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Untitled (Man Lounging); Untitled (Woman Pointing) beobachtet, die im März 2017 für USD 10.000,00 (€ 9.347,54) versteigert wurde.
