Auction result misses estimated price range
In May last year a collector was able to acquire the work Casting the Nets by Warren W. Sheppard for USD 5,040.00 (€ 4,696.67). This price was achieved in the auction The American Scene including Important Photographs from the Helene Wurlitzer Foundation at Sothebys in New York and was even below the estimate range of USD 8,000.00 – 12,000.00 set by the auction house. Admittedly, works by Warren W. Sheppard have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work The naval engagement between the C.S.S. Merrimac and the U.S.S. Monitor at Hampton Road in February 2006 with an auction result of USD 48,000.00 (€ 40,251.57).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Im Mai letzten Jahres konnte ein Sammler die Arbeit Casting the Nets von Warren W. Sheppard für USD 5.040,00 (€ 4.696,67) erwerben. Dieser Preis wurde in der Auktion The American Scene including Important Photographs from the Helene Wurlitzer Foundation bei Sothebys in New York erzielt und lag noch unterhalb der von dem Auktionshaus angesetzten Schätzpreisspanne von USD 8.000,00 – 12.000,00. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Warren W. Sheppard auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit The naval engagement between the C.S.S.
