Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work American dusk on the coast 24 1/4 x 36in (61.5 x 91.4cm) by Warren W. Sheppard was auctioned at Bonhams in Los Angeles in November this year, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of USD 3,000.00 – 5,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for USD 2,816.00 (€ 2,581.59). Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Warren W. Sheppard achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work The naval engagement between the C.S.S. Merrimac and the U.S.S. Monitor at Hampton Road in February 2006 with an auction result of USD 48,000.00 (€ 40,251.57).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als die Arbeit American dusk on the coast 24 1/4 x 36in (61.5 x 91.4cm) von Warren W. Sheppard im November diesen Jahres bei Bonhams in Los Angeles versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 3.000,00 – 5.000,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für USD 2.816,00 (€ 2.581,59) den Besitzer. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Warren W. Sheppard erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit The naval engagement between the C.S.S. Merrimac and the U.S.S.
