In the Two Centuries: American Art auction, the work Moonlight Sail Off the Highlands sold for USD 13,860.00 (€ 11,802.78) - well above the upper estimate of USD 5,000.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Warren W. Sheppard - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work The naval engagement between the C.S.S. Merrimac and the U.S.S. Monitor at Hampton Road, which sold at auction in February 2006 for USD 48,000.00 (€ 40,251.57).
