Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work Calligraphy In Running Script by Wang Kaiyun was auctioned at Sothebys in New York in September 2013, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of USD 5,000.00 – 7,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for USD 4,750.00 (€ 3,509.42). Admittedly, works by Wang Kaiyun have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Poem In Xingshu in October 2016 with an auction result of HKD 275,000.00 (€ 32,361.80).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als die Arbeit Calligraphy In Running Script von Wang Kaiyun im September 2013 bei Sothebys in New York versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 5.000,00 – 7.000,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für USD 4.750,00 (€ 3.509,42) den Besitzer. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Wang Kaiyun auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Poem In Xingshu im Oktober 2016 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von HKD 275.000,00 (€ 32.361,80).
